of things past

One good thing about working on many different projects the same time is if you get stuck on one you can move on to another. The problem becomes when you start on one you haven't looked at in 5 months and are trying to get to know the characters again before you change their names inadvertently or turn them blond instead of bald or - well, you get the picture.

Have a great Thursday.

I've come to the conclusion I'm a one project at a time girl...until of course, I change my mind again. Enjoy.

I tend to fixate on one thing at a time. I'm obsessive that way ; )

Cate and Nat, I would love to do that, but my mind wanders and . . .hey look, a chicken!

The magpie method can certainly work. See something shiny, want it for your nest!

I do take character notes down though, just so I don't, yeah. Turn them all blond, or what have you.

Katey, yeah i should take notes. I just printed off 200 pages of manuscript so I can read it again. Notecards will be at the ready so I can do just that.

Shiny things? Where?

Did someone say shiny?

(I'm not distractable at all...)

Maybe some rules for the wandering mind - one project at a time and only make notes for the other projects and ideas. That's what I force myself to do anyway. Whether it works, we'll eventually see :)

Aaron, I don't know if shiny is my problem or if I just like the chaos.

Danielle, I have tried that and failed miserably. I think it stems from my college days when I had several English and writing classes going on at the same time.

That's exactly it - the chaos! I am exactly the same way. You might be shocked at the number of half-written WIPs I have. In fact, I think I'll go do a confessional (aka blog) about it.

Whatever keeps you motivated, I say.

I can't do more than one project at a time either. Although I do like chickens...
