TGIF. Truer words have not been spoken. Managed to squeak out another rejection this morning from Shock Totem. Sent the story on to Necrotic Tissue. We'll see how that turns out. I did manage to write a flash story yesterday afternoon. That was fun. I hadn't written flash since the story I wrote for 52 Stitches in late October (Dang has it really been that long?).
I am planning on nothing today but getting groceries and having a drink, or four (I really don't do that anymore, only the first two taste good.) I might get some writing in but I don't know what on. It could be a book or it could be another flash piece.
I am really looking forward to this weekend. My wife and I get to go out on a date and we are going to go antiquing (there is a big show in Des Moines this weekend. We try to go every year but we missed it the last two, I think.) Other than that I am ready for January to be over with and start February on a happy, acceptance filled- rejection free, note (Hah!)
Hope everyone enjoys their weekend as much as I am planning to.

Best of luck with Necrotic Tissue; at the very least they send great comments. But I smell acceptance.
Have fun antiquing. Always good story ideas in antiques--and I know how nice it is to get away with the wife when you have kids.
You have a great weekend Aaron, and you are right there is nothing like looking at a 150 year old chest of drawers and wondering what has been stuffed in them at one point.
Antiqueing is fun! My grandmother co-owned an antique mall for something like 30 years, so I grew up knowing how to move furniture, which is a good skill to fall back on if the writing doesn't take.
Good luck with Necrotic Tissue!
TGIF indeed.
Enjoy your weekend. :)
I'm expecting my rejection from Shock Totem very soon as well. ;) Now I'm in the mood to do a little antiquing myself. We never by anything, but love to look.
My official writing table is an 1820-50 desk with a fold out top and some really cool marquetry on it. It isn't in great shape but it sure inspires.
I'll be working harder this weekend than I do during the week. Chinese New Year is coming!
Happy New Year then. I need to get some water chestnuts and bamboo at the store tonight.
Oh...
I misread. Thought it was "A Continuity of Perks" and was wondering what your perks were. Kind of a let down...
Keep on truckin', Jamie! I hear ya on the rejection blues, but they always lift eventually if you just keep slogging away (as I know you will). Hope the antiquing was wonderful.
Paul- the only perks I offer are friendship and an occasional read for an ongoing story you may have trouble with. Sorry to disappoint.
Felicity- I can't imagine you are having too much of the rejection blues right now but thanks anyway.
