Maybe this summer won't be so bad

I managed to get some work done yesterday, writing work. After I signed off the blog and put the internet away (it wasn't that hard. I know- I'm shocked as well.) I managed to get out a quick 1000 words before I went upstairs to wake the boy at 9:30 in the morning. I would have let him sleep later, but I wanted to do that one last thing before his sister is home for the summer and I would have to deal with both of them. Besides, I used to take her places all the time when she was that age.

I am thinking that the same philosophy might apply all Summer. I used to do that all the time. Get all of my writing done in the morning before I lost the morning nap and had to switch to the afternoon nap. I think I might be losing the afternoon nap her shortly. Man, I hope not but I have to prepare for the eventuality.

I am still psyched that some good (okay, maybe not good but productive, we can call it productive) writing time ensued in this short window of opportunity.

As far as the rest of the week goes I think tomorrows post will concern itself with my take on paper versus online debate. I am still thinking of my arguments are still forming so I won't take it on today. Have a good day and write well my friends.

Samantha, we are all adults here. Bitching is allowed. :)

I find the lack of writing time makes me write better with what little I can squeeze out.

Curious to see your angle on the print/online issue.

Aaron- I'm interested in what I have to say on the subject as well.

I can barely dress myself in the morning, anything I wrote would be mortifying!

Ying: Honey, when did you write this story?

Me: I started yesterday but I wrapped it up this morning. Why?

Ying: I don't want to nitpick, but I think you might want to revise the second part.

Me: Really?

Ying: Its just that you seem to stop talking about the characters or the plot. And look here, for the ending you have Quentin Tarrantino shot out of a cannon and into a whale's ass.

Me: I see.

Don't worry, they'll be teenagers soon enough and then it'll be permanent nap time. :)

Nat- we don't want you to do anything uncomfortable. Please sleep in all you want.

Cate- EEK!

I'm with Nat on the mornings-- though I don't think I'd come up with anything as inventive as Tarrantino shot out of a canon into a whale's ass.

But there's something kind of exciting about having a little time, but regularly. You can save it all up and know that when it comes around, it's on.

I used to have a job where I didn't have to leave for work until 9:30am, so I got up early and used the extra time for writing. I miss having that quiet/creative time first thing; it was a great way to start the day.

I know what you mean. I lost the afternoon nap last summer. I need a laptop. I'm going to be reduced to standing on the side of the road with a sign: "Need money for laptop."

And I too would love to see the Quentin Tarantino/whale ass story.
