A balmy -23 F or -30.5 C

Damn it is cold outside. I am not even going to attempt to start a car that hasn't been garaged overnight. At least my snow thrower worked yesterday afternoon and it didn't drift back overnight for once this week.

Received bad news in my inbox this morning. Apex declined my story. I am currently seeking a new market for this piece after I go over it one more time. Just for peace of mind on my end. It is a longer story (4300 words) and the only 'true' science fiction story I have ever written so markets are hard to come by. (It doesn't help that I have only sent it out to professional markets so far and received positive feedback. the only reason I am doing that is it came in as an honorable mention in the Return to Luna antho, which is a darn good book by the way.) Once I run out of pro markets I will work my way down the scale. I think it will find a home. I just don't know where.

I also received an email from Stefanie Freele at the Dogs: wet and dry antho and my flash piece is still in the running. That made me happy.

so let me see, I still haven't gotten an acceptance this year, but I now have one hold. Better than a sharp stick in the eye. I still think I am on track to send out my Dead Bait story tomorrow, or maybe Saturday depending on how tomorrow goes. I am not going to rush it just to meet a self imposed deadline.

Hope everyone has a warm and productive day, so stop reading blogs on the office computer and get to work.

If you're receiving positive remarks from pro magazines for the story it must be good. Keep persevering. :)

This makes me feel bad for actually wishing for some snow here in VA

Cate- I look forward to seeing what market your 'Luna' story ends up in.

Barry- I will be happy to send you some but I think it would melt in the mailtruck and then I would be dealing with a very unhappy postal inspector.

Sounds like you'll find a market before long. Must be a good story. I haven't had much luck wtih science fiction myself.

Rob- I don't know if I will visit sci-fi again. At least not on purpose.

I haven't sold anything either. I have, however, collected exciting new rejections ; )

Natalie- we could start a club or something.

That's great about the hold notice! And I'm sure you'll find a good home for the SF story.

I thought it was cold here--wind chill is 17. I am not going to offer to trade places with you, that's for sure.

K.C.- it isn't bad if you don't have to go outside. Really. It is cool what you can do with a glass of water though. Throw it in the air and it freezes before it hits the ground.

Damn, I am reading blogs on the office computer. This is the last one, I promise.

Commiserations on the rejection and hopefully you will find a home for it soon.

Today was a short sleeved t-shirt day and I was outside picking our lavender. Sometimes I forget that it gets cold elsewhere.

*sneaks guiltily away from blog reading.

I turned on the computer to write, I swear.

Danielle- thanks for posting, nice to meet you. I've got to make it to Australia and meet everyone down there sometime.

Mercedes- I don't know how any of us get any writing done with all of these blogs to check up on.
