Hello Monday! (and happy Chinese New Year!)

Well it is Monday. Happy, Happy Monday. We managed to get more snow over the weekend but it wasn't a blizzard or anything. Just a nice little 4 inch dusting of snow. We are supposed to get more over the next couple of days so I have my snowthrower ready.

I managed to write another flash fiction piece on Friday. kind of a different take on most of my stories. It is almost a creepy fantasy story as opposed to horror. I am going to be interested if it will sell or if it will be relegated to my dead story file. I will find out in a couple of weeks. Two stories in two days and here I was only supposed to write one piece a month. So far I am up to April and ready for May at this point I guess. In case any of you were wondering I heard nothing from any editor over the weekend so no news is good news in my opinion.

This week is shaping up to be quasi-busy, I have dental appointments, I need to schedule truck repairs (minor but they still need to be taken care of) stories to write and my laundry pile seems to have gotten rather frisky and multiplied over the weekend. I also have a couple of business ventures to look into (something my wife and I have been wanting to do since we started seeing each other which will be 14 years this week) My sister, Melissa, who is 11 months my junior will be celebrating the fifth anniversary of her 29th birthday as well this week. (for those of you with weak math skills or brains that don't function that well in the early morning that is 34 years) She will kill me if she ever reads this.

I want to thank Aaron. I won a copy of Zombie Haiku (only slightly used) because of my ability to pick names that five year old will enjoy saying (kind of like the marketing McDonald's put into Happy Meal (tm) )

One more thing. I am sure most of you have read Felicity's Post from yesterday already but if you haven't go here. It is quite possibly the most exciting news that any of my online friends have offered this year, to date and I think this is going to be a big year for this online circle of comrades (just a little voice in my head that is telling me this. I keep jabbing him with an icepick but he won't go away)

These stories and chores aren't going to get done by themselves. Happy Chinese New Year.

Don't jab too hard; it will make haiku hard to read.

We had a whirlwind of laundry this weekend. Good luck with that.

Did you find any sweet antiques?

Aaron- Actually the antique show was a bust. It was all the little nick-knack brick-abrack stuff (not even any good antique books to look at) and we really enjoy the furniture. Although one guy did have a pretty cool gumball machine collection.

One more thing, I ordered Monstrous this weekend. It should be in by the end of the week. I can't wait.

Hope you like it. My story, "A Plague from the Mud", was definately my most straight forward monsterfest to date.

Creepy fantasy is just as good as horror. Nothing wrong with that. Our laundry tends to grow over the weekend, too--I know that's when we're supposed to get all the chores around the house done, but we tend to just be lazy and do the things we want to do on weekends.

I even did laundry this weekend. I don't know what happened. I kind of liked writing the creepy fantasy. It was. . .a welcome change. I might find myself writing more of it int he future.

Creepy Fantasy rocks!!! At least you don't have to worry about whether it's scary or not.

And hey, I have a snowthrower too - my right arm. :)

Cate- :)

Jeremy- that is one more haiku than I will write this year. probably one more poem than I will write actually.

Congrats on finishing another story! I've still only written one this year--no, wait, two. Okay, I feel better.

Way to go, being ahead of your own schedule. I had a very non-productive weekend, including not being able to find where I put my schedule :) Am going to have to really knuckle down this week.

Thanks for the pimpage, Jamie! (And for immortalising me in Zombie Haiku, Jeremy!)

Aw, bummer on the antiques. I was looking forward to hearing about some thrilling finds. There's a billion and one stories in antiques.

Monsters, ghouls, ghosts and what not are light weight. Laundry? Now that is truly horrifying. I try and avoid it as much as possible, but the clothes tend to clump together in big bunches and stalk me...

Nat- Celebrated by making Crab Rangoon and Bamboo mushroom beef (I know it is probably not real authentic but it is the best I can do)
