All sorts of goodness

Yes, it is Monday and I am associating that with all sorts of goodness. First off, a great big Congratulations to Felicity Dowker, one of the most kreative spellers I know, who won the Ditmar Award for Best New Talent. Talk about a gal who has taken the underworld by storm with her dark fiction.

In other down under news, if Jaws didn't make you squeamish to get in the water, BT's story Murky Depths on 52 Stitches will.

the third thing I am cheering about is that I am done hanging sheetrock in my spare bedroom. Most of you won't give a damn about that, but I am glad that part of the construction is done. (I still have more sheetrock to hang, but the bedroom is done which is all I was worried about.) My back is also so far out of whack I am afraid that I won't be able to sneeze this week. You think I'm kidding. It has happened to me before.

In other news we had a spectacular lighting storm last night. I wish I had set up my video camera to record it. Sometimes hindsight blah, blah, blah.

This week starts editing. Major editing of a 24,000 word novella I would like to submit to Damnation Books. I also have a Vermin antho story I can see the end from where I sit, I just need to get there, edit it and submit before the deadline is over. In July. These two projects should consume most of my free time this week, and then some.

Hope everyone has a good week. Probably read more about me tomorrow, unless My house floats away with all the rain we have been getting lately.

Waddling cats and acceptances

I am watching a large, very pregnant cat waddle across the yard. No doubt looking to add to the already overwhelming numbers we already have here on the ol' homestead. I think she is one of many that will be adding to my current stock in Purina brand products around here.

Meanwhile, edits have been going well, if not as fast as I would like them too. I have been reading for a couple of friends and managed to get an acceptance to a magazine I can truly say is quite an honor. My story "Play Date" will be in Issue #5 of Sand. I have tried with two other stories to make it into Sand and have failed both times. I was actually inspired to write it by a story that was featured in the last issue of sand by J.C.Tabler called "Crib Death." In a couple of months, when you get the chance to read my story and then compare it to J.C.'s story you might be going WTF, but that is just the way my mind works.

In bigger news, today is the day that Felicity Dowker's book "A Phantasy Moste Grotesque" is released. Very excited for her. I am going out on a very short and stout limb by saying that this will, doubtlesss, be the first of many for her. (and the start of a fantastic year for most all of us her in this circle of bloggers, just a hunch).

Have a happy Friday. Have a great weekend.

Now iz ze time on Sprockets ven ve danse

I am doing a jitterbug right now. Not only did I receive a copy of Sand #3 yesterday in the mail (great little mag with a story by our own J.C. Tabler) but I managed to shoot off an order for our very own Felicity Dowker's chapbook "Phantasy Moste Grotesque" this morning. Something tells me if you don't order this thing in the next day or so you will be looking for used copies on ebay after it comes out, at a premium.

See, the postman does bring good news.

The novella is coming along great. At this point I think I am on Chapter 15 which mean I think I have 5 or 6 to go. (maybe I will finish by the end of the week) I managed to get in another 1700 words yesterday which is really good for me. Kind of like reading a book in only a week. I am about to open up a giant turning point in the story and I can't wait to see what my other characters think of the revelation. (Does anyone else find it odd that they become real, at least for the time you are working on them?)

The boy is crawling on me and the fog has lifted, for now, so I better grab a cup of coffee and get going.

As I write this a lot of vodka has gone through my system

The title of this blog says a lot. I am trying to get through the dreaded stomach flu bug that is seeming to go through my family at this time. (my wife and son have had it so far, i am waiting for my daughter and I to catch it next.)

I don't know if this even is coherent at this point, and I have just gotten started. I am also worried that Felicity is thinking of abandoning us and going to Livejournal (where I don't even know her i.p. address)

I should start on another story. Either that or I should finish reading the book that I am working on. (i am not really working on it, it has been a joy to read actually. Tainted, edited by Aaron Polson. you all should pick it up if you haven't read it yet. I will write a review when I am done with it)

I really suppose I should try and get some sleep at this point. The vodka is starting to speak to me and it is telling me to see what the scores for the football games of the day are.
