Search the technological wasteland

My wife is in need of a new printer. I still have a laser printer that I bought last year but it is worthless for color and forget about printing pictures on it. Still it is fast and cheap to run. I do like the printer she has now, when it works (damn Vista) It scans and copies and as I said before when it works makes awesome pictures but it is having problems. That and it eats ink. I swear it just mists it into the air to waste it when I am not looking. So I have been looking for a good deal to replace it and all I can say is they are all expensive. at least the good ones are. I am reading a lot of online comments about the problems that some of the cheaper ones have and I don't even want to deal with that at this point.

If anyone has any suggestions (I am not buying another Lexmark, the ink doesn't last long enough) I would be happy to hear them.

I received my copy of When Dark Descends yesterday. This copy is mint, a limited edition of 500 and mine is marked as AC (Author copy) very cool.

Speaking of drawings don't forget to go back a couple of posts and sign up for a book just in time for the holidays.

Talk at you all later. I am going to enjoy the sub-zero temperatures and the inches of snow that we are getting right now- from the comfort of my living room.

I'm in the UK and my printer a HP All-in-One scanner/copier/photo printer is awesome. Okay, I've done it now - it will break down in about five minutes. :)

HP PSC 1610, I've had it for 2 years.

I love my Canon MP 470 and the built-in scanner/copier feature is first rate. It is 100% happy to work with Vista. Ink jets do tend to guzzle ink though...

We have a Brother printer and I'm very happy with it. Reliable and fast printing.

We have a big monstrosity of an HP that does everything short of cleaning the bathroom. This is why it's nice to have in-laws.

Sorry - a little late to the party on this one (again).

I had a big expensive HP MFC thing which did professional looking photos but cost a lot in ink, especially when you're printing out as much as I have been with assignments, draft copies, etc. So I gave it to my mother who uses it for her card making and apparently does really well.

I swapped the $700 odd dollar monstrosity for a $100 Brother 115C which is cheap, doesn't do photos to the same quality but they're okay, and is quick and cheap for printing out text. The ink lasts an acceptable timeframe and is reasonably priced.

And the software which comes with it is pretty cool - especially the ability to scan and dechiper text from the page into electronic format - very handy.

You all have no idea how much this is helping. I am still looking but I am definately narrowing it down. Thank you and keep the suggestions coming.
